MUST-HAVES when traveling

While I was in Korea during the winter, my friends were visiting from LA and I created a list of things they MUST bring to survive the cold. I thought I would share it with you too!

  1. Water bottle – To stay hydrated and reduce waste (make sure its empty when you go through TSA)
  2. Bring cash and exchange in the airport OR you can exchange in the states before you leave // also make sure you know your rates when you use whatever card you have
    1. Remember to put travel notice on your credit/debit card.
  3. WARM CLOTHES
    • LAYERS
      • heat tech top
      • long sleeves
      • fleece
      • puffy jacket
      • heat tech bottom
      • jeans
      • scarf
      • gloves
      • beanies
      • warm socks (warm long thick ones)
      • comfortable walking boots or sneakers OR waterproof ish shoes are good due to possible snow in Korea
    • TIPS: get 1 large jacket so that you can really layer on lots of clothes

*for reference, I wear a layer of heat tech, a long sleeve, then a crewneck, and then my big padding jacket from Korea and then a scarf. For bottoms, I wear my tights and my jeans. For shoes, I wear my sneakers with a thick pair of socks. *

This is what I looked 95% of the time other 5% is PJs.
  • Travel adapter
    • I didn’t mind getting the one linked below because it was just so helpful and it has other countries in it so I can use it again if I ever travel anywhere else
  • Depending on the airbnb, most should have shampoo and stuff, but If you wanna travel light and you want to bring your own, I suggest shampoo/conditioner bars (Lush has them) to reduce luggage weight!
  • If you are bringing full sized liquids (ex. lotions, hairspray, etc) products (bigger than 3.4oz) are in your CHECK IN
    • smaller than 3.4oz can be carried in carryon

MUST HAVE TO GET WHEN IN KOREA

  1. T money card (you can get it at any convenience store/subway station)
    • You buy the card and charge it (charging is cash only)
    • I suggest putting 10,000 won on the first day
      • I lost one of mine with 20 bucks on it 😦 so don’t put TOO much on it
      • you can always charge it when you need more. plus, you don’t want a lot of leftover on the card if you aren’t going to travel in Korea anytime after lol
    • TMONEY CARD is used when traveling by bus or subway and subway is the most common way people get around in Korea.
    • ALSO can be used in convenience stores, which is AWESOME and super simple.
