If you are reading this, I have survived my first week at Chungnam National University in Daejeon, South Korea! I have wanted to study abroad in Korea for years and I am now actually here!

landing in incheon airport
After landing in Incheon Airport, I had to purchase to a bus ticket to take to Daejeon which would take about 3 hours to get me there. Thanks to a friend I made on the plane, he helped me purchase the ticket and I was off to Daejeon!
I was quite nervous about taking the bus because I was really going to be alone. I hopped on the bus and I stared outside for about 30 minutes admiring the greenery and the city interwoven with one another and freeways near plenty of trees.

After I got off the bus, I retrieved my luggage and walked to the lined up taxis. I walked to the third one in line. As I put my head close to the passenger side of the window, he rolled his window down and pointed and said something along the lines of go forward, but I had no clue what that meant. I just walked away and then I turned to a woman and asked her about the taxi. She pointed at the taxi and said taxi. I was so confused because I knew it was the taxi, but I was doing something wrong. The guy did not want to take me and I was really confused. Then I walked up to the first guy in the long line of taxis and he just popped open his trunk. It turns out the first person in the taxi line has waiting the longest for a customer so naturally he gets the next customer.
Chungnam national university

After a 10 minute taxi ride, I got to Chungnam National University (CNU). After some bad Korean conversations and lots of hand gestures, I finally got to my dorm. The building pictured above is going to be my home for the next 4 months! It is a girls only building (yes, an entire building just for females) and just in the next building over is the guys only dorm.
